Next on your agenda is to stop by one of the states national parks like the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. This is one of the steepest mountains in the world. It is located just on the south end of the Coachella Valley. From there, you will have to take a tour of the Joshua Tree National Park, which is full of gold mining history.

Now that you have enjoyed the outdoorsy activities, it is time to have some family-friendly fun. The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens offers guests a peek at some of Palm Desert’s wildest animals and creatures. You can find exhibits featuring a Gecko Gulch and Wildlife Wonders.

From there, head on over to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway where you will find “360 degrees of Wow.” This consists of rotating tramcars that whisk you 8,516 feet in the air to the Mountain Station. Speaking of air, the entire family will have fun at the Palm Springs Air Museum, which features an up-close look at World War II aircraft.

You cannot live in or visit Palm Desert and not get a little wet. After all, 350 days of sun provides you with plenty of opportunities to cool off in the pool. Knott’s Soak City Water Park is filled with waterslides, pools and fun for kids and the kid in you.

For a fun and relaxing evening out, The McCallum Theatre offers a variety of world-class artists who are ready and willing to display their work in the state-of-the-art performing arts center. Speaking of nightlife, the fun does not have to stop as soon as the sun goes down. Palm Desert features a wide array of bars, cafes, clubs and casinos ready for you to live life to the fullest. There are several casinos and gaming resorts located around Palm Desert where you can play some bingo, blackjack and all of your other favorite games.

You can also enjoy yourself at one of the many bars and cafes that are spread throughout the city. Kick back and listen to some jazz or dance the night away at a club. Some of the places you will want to check out include 19th Hole Sports Bar and Restaurant, The Lobby Bar, and Tilted Kilt.

Finally, you cannot live in California without taking advantage of the supreme golf courses that flood the area. There truly is no better place to golf than Southern California, which plays home to some of the world’s greatest courses. There are more than 100 courses in the Coachella Valley including the award-winning Desert Willow Golf Resort located in Palm Desert. All of the courses offer challenging bunkers, stunning water features and spectacular views of the mountains. Desert Willow was even named one of the “Best Places to Play” in Golf Digest’s section.
